on mountaintops,
through miracles,
or in experiences that interrupt the ordinary rhythm of our days.
The Poetic Life

A poetic life does not require us to become poets.
It asks something simpler.
To notice.
To listen.
To remain available to wonder.
The Wisdom of Not Knowing
where mystery becomes a companion
We spend much of our lives learning to know.
We gather information.
We search for answers.
We name what we encounter.
We try to understand.
There is wisdom in this.
But there is another wisdom
that comes more slowly.
Enough
daily bread
We live surrounded by the language of more.
More to accomplish.
More to possess.
More to become.
More places to go.
More things to experience.
More ways to improve the life we already have.
Even our inner lives can become another project.
